Jira Software: Open Source Project Tracking
Apps List
The Jira Software is developed by Atlassian, Inc. and is a proprietary issue tracking product. Basically, it provides project management functions, issue tracking, and bug tracking. This open source project tracking has been developed since 2012 and Jira’s main competitor is Bugzilla.
Jira is used by many organizations and customers across the globe as a project management software and as a bug-tracking tool. Among the famous organizations that use this software are Spring Framework, Skype, Linden Lab, JBoss, Honeywell Aerospace, Hibernate and many more.
Compared to its number one competition, Bugzilla, Jira is more internally customizable since Bugzilla has a fixed and single state machine to represent the life cycle of a bug. On the other hand, Jira allows this state machine to be customized by its users along with the different classes of issue to be tracked, each of these have their own state machine. Due to this feature, Jira is made far more flexible making it far more than just a general issue tracker but with other features like tracking system admin tasks, new feature requests, and any other feature that its users may need. And if you do not want to configure JIRA for each new task type, you can get pre-built configurations that will provide a pre-configured JIRA environment for tasks.
